The 'Dollars and Sense' about why Keema Salon made the switch to Easydry

Keema Salon, Burr Ridge, IL

Why would this upscale hair salon stop using cotton towels at their Shampoo area? 😲

We sat down with Cynthia Alex & Olga Montoy from Keema Salon as they candidly shared past stories about running out of clean towels during a busy day and running out of hot water (a nightmare for salon owners & clients alike).

They told us switching to Easydry alleviates having to use the washing machine - leaving plenty of hot water for their shampoos and allowing their team to focus more on servicing their clients instead of doing laundry. #laundrysucks

Now, let's get down to the Dollars & 'Sense'

THE 'SENSE':  Cynthia explained, as an AVEDA Lifestyle Salon, making eco-friendly choices that are kind to our planet is very important to them, and using Easydry is mission-aligned...PERIOD.  They care about their impact on the environment and are concerned with water conservation.

"It's Mission-Aligned...PERIOD" - Cynthia Alex, owner, Keema Salon

Because Easydry eco-towels are made from sustainably harvested wood pulp, they are also 100% biodegradable and will break down within about 90 days - compared to cotton towels which take over 3 years to biodegrade.  The process used to make Easydry is much more eco-friendly then cotton-towel production and because they are gentler to the hair and scalp, it leaves the hair in better condition which sets the foundation for the best haircut and color results = happy clients
😁

THE DOLLARS:  When we used Easydry's 'Salon Towel Cost Calculator'  a hair salon similar to Keema Salon would have the opportunity to save :

  • 5,508.00 to 6,732.00 units (kWh) in electricity
  • 2,996.35 to 3,662.21 Kg in CO2 emissions
  • 91,000+ Liters of Water per year
The amount of water saved was a huge eye-opener for us!  We learned from the owner and creator of Easydry, Anne Butterly, that choosing to use 1 Easydry towel is 3 times more absorbent than a regular salon towel and saves 5 Liters of water from being wasted.

They say Time is Money...

Imagine what you would do with an extra 17 hours every week.  Anne shared her calculations that the time a salon similar to Keema would save by switching to Easydry would equal about 918 hours a year!  That's a lot of time spent doing laundry! #laundrysucks

    1. Yes, they can be disposed. Some people will reuse them for various cleaning tasks or give the client the option to take them home. Some will donate them to other business like animal shelters or auto-repair shops, and some people will put them in their compost bin- but they can also be thrown away and should break back down into wood-particles
